A young Brazilian beauty queen has died after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor in her abdomen.

Vanessa Soares, 21, passed away Wednesday morning, August 4, during her emergency surgery at Roraima General Hospital in Boa Vista, Roraima.

Before her death, Soares won Miss Rorainópolis in 2016 and 2020. She also won the Miss Teen Roraima pageant in 2018. 

Soares 'had a very serious pattern of hypotension and hemorrhage caused by abdominal tumors.' the hospital said .
