Masari : My foundation apolitical,

Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has said that his youth empowerment foundation otherwise called Aminu Masari Youth Empowerment Foundation is unpolitical and without any selfish motive.

Masari, who made the above disclosure while briefing reporters in Government House Katsina, also maintained that the primary reason for establishing the foundation was youths’ empowerment and humanity.

He said: “The foundation has been in existence since I was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, but slowed down due to my active involvement in politics.

“My major focus is to intervene directly in the lives of the people in the state, especially in the area of youths’ development.

“Anyone who thinks the foundation is for any political ambition of mine should understand that I have no plans to contest for any political position in the country.

“My ambition after my tenure as governor in the next one year and some months, is to focus more on  activities of the foundation so as to empower our youths with skills acquisition and empowerment.’’

He also stated that Katsina remains the headquarters of the foundation and that an outlay of the management structures of the foundation has been made with Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Marshi, retired Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as chairman.

“The foundation has been in existence for a long time and we have empowered many youths and also people with special needs in the state.

“Our aim is to train the youths on various skills acquisition programs and entrepreneurship so they can be self-reliant but not to give them money, because we have done that in the past and most of the beneficiaries did not utilize the opportunity,” he said.

The governor further added that the foundation had done a lot on  scholarship support to indigenes and non-indigenes, within and outside the state and also carried out medical outreach in some parts of the state.

He assured that the foundation has plans to support some schools with special needs and also establish a centre for people with special needs.
